Dickies Clothing History

Many people know that Dickies Clothing dates back nearly 100 years in some form or fashion.  When the company got started in the 1920s, Dickies Clothing consisted primarily of overalls.  During the Great Depression, the Dickies brand moved towards lines of workpants, but that all changed once again when World War II came about.  In the first half of the 1940’s, Dickies Clothing focused on military uniforms, as did most American industries during those years.    

Things really took off in the 1950s, as oilfield workers wore Dickie’s Clothing, and many of them began to work in the Middle East with workers from different parts of the world.  At this point, Dickies Clothing as an overall brand expanded its reach to Europe and other markets, which in turn increased its demand. From there, Dickies Clothing took advantage of its new and growing geographic market reach to expand its clothing lines.  Specifically, the company expanded into the college market, the white-collar market, the women’s market and ultimately the casual market for young people. That’s where you’ll Dickies Clothing today – everywhere – and that’s because millions of people around the world have come to know and trust the company based on their own experiences.
